2009 Scarpa Syrah

Our 2009 Scarpa hails from the steep inclines of the illustrious Pritchard Hill area of Napa Valley, where grape vines are about the only thing that can grow. Known for its famous Cabernet vineyards, the soils here are deep auburn in color, incredibly rocky and are also especially well-suited to Syrah, proving that Rhone varietals flourish in this climate as well. Look for vibrant black fruit and spice aromatics with a lush, creamy texture and a complex, rich finish. Like all of our wines this is unfined and unfiltered.

  • 100% Syrah
  • Pritchard Hill vineyard
  • Rocky red volcanic soils
  • 30% whole-cluster fermentation
  • 96 cases made

Reviews
Deliciously complex, dense, deep and focused, with an array of beefy wild berry, mineral, black licorice, graphite and raspberry. Full-bodied yet graceful, elegant and beautifully proportioned, ending with a long persistent finish. Drink now through 2022
